MB: Keene State pulls away late in win over Panthers

KEENE, N.H. – Plymouth State University fell to the Keene State College Owls, 91-65, in a Little East Conference (LEC) men's basketball game in Spaulding Gymnasium on Wednesday night.
 
The Panthers kept the game tight midway through the second half, trailing just 62-55 with 10:44 left, until Keene State used a 20-3 run to take control. The Owls were deadly from beyond the arc, knocking down 13-of-27 (48.1%) from distance and shooting better than 52% for the game.
 
Senior Torran Bosworth (Springfield, Mass.) and freshman Asante' Aurora (New Bedford, Mass.) led the Panthers with 11 points apiece, while sophomore Will Mollica (Stratham, N.H.) added nine points in the losing effort for the Panthers.
 
Plymouth State falls to 6-14 (2-9 LEC), while the Owls improve to 12-9 (8-4 LEC).

Top Performers: How it Happened:
  • The Owls opened with an early 8-2 lead in the first three minutes of play.
  • Bosworth drilled back-to-back three-pointers to tie things at 8-8 with 14:47 left in the first half.
  • The teams traded buckets through much of the first half, as the game remained tied (25-25) with 6:10 before halftime.
  • A late 9-0 run put Keene State in front 40-31 with a minute to go before the break.
  • PSU scored the last four points of the half to shrink the Keene State lead to 40-35 heading to the locker room.
  • The Owls took their first double-digit lead of the evening, 47-37, with 17:10 left in regulation.
