PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Yansel Reyes (Manchester, N.H.) has been named the Plymouth State University Male Athlete of the Month for February, sponsored by the New Hampshire Army National Guard, following a series of strong performances for the men's basketball team.
Reyes was a regular offensive spark for the Panthers throughout the month, leading the team in scoring while producing several all-around performances. He averaged 18.4 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game across five contests in February, highlighted by three 20-point outings.
He began the month with a 22-point effort against UMass Dartmouth on Feb. 7, knocking down three three-pointers while adding three assists and two steals. Reyes followed that with 18 points and seven rebounds in a road contest at Southern Maine on Feb. 11.
Reyes delivered one of his most complete performances of the season on Feb. 14 against UMass Boston. He poured in 24 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds to record his first double-double of the month while also handing out four assists.
He continued to impact the game in multiple ways during Plymouth State's victory over VTSU Castleton on Feb. 18, dishing out a season-best eight assists to go along with six rebounds. Reyes closed out the month with another 20-point performance on Feb. 21 at Eastern Connecticut State, finishing with 22 points while adding three rebounds and two assists.
Reyes reached the 20-point plateau three times during the month and finished the season with 12 games scoring 20 or more points. His 17.9 points per game ranked sixth in the Little East Conference, while his 3.8 assists per game were fifth, underscoring his role as one of the league's top offensive threats. He also ranked among the conference's top 10 in steals at 1.6 per game.
Plymouth State finished the season with a 7-18 mark.
