PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Three separate players recorded hat tricks as Plymouth State University cruised past Johnson & Wales University, 13-6, in a non-conference men's lacrosse game at Panther Field on Saturday afternoon.
With the game tied at 1-1 late in the first quarter, Plymouth State went on a 9-1 surge spanning into the middle of the third quarter to seize control. The Wildcats scored three straight goals to pull within 10-5 early in the fourth quarter, but PSU answered with a 3-0 spurt to put the game away.
Freshmen
Hunter Richards (Durham, Maine),
Colby Walden (Londonderry, N.H.) and
Seamus Tattan (West Roxbury, Mass.) scored three goals apiece, with Richards and Walden each adding an assist for four-point games.
Plymouth State improves to 4-3, while Johnson & Wales falls to 1-3.

How it Happened:
- Richards gave the Panthers a 1-0 lead less than two minutes into the game.
- Johnson & Wales pulled even with six minutes left in the first quarter, but Walden and freshman James Celio (Amston, Conn.) answered to build a 3-1 lead after one.
- Tattan scored three goals in a four-minute span early in the second quarter to push the margin to 6-1.
- JWU briefly slowed the momentum midway through the frame, but Richards and Walden responded to make it 8-2 at halftime.
- Junior Aiden Renner (Phillipsburg, N.J.) and Richards capped the 9-1 run with third-quarter goals to extend the lead to 10-2.
- The Wildcats closed the third quarter with back-to-back goals, then scored early in the fourth to pull within 10-5.
- Renner answered, with Walden and junior Kevin Cougler (Dover, N.H.) also finding the back of the net to extend the lead to 13-5.
- JWU added a man-up goal with just over a minute remaining to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Richards scored three times for the second straight game.
- Walden notched his third four-point game of the season.
- Tattan has at least one point in six of seven games, including each of the last five.
- Graduate student Ethan Schena (Methuen, Mass.) made 11 saves in the win.

- Plymouth State held a 21-18 edge in shots on goal and went 13-for-18 on clears.
- JWU went 11-for-17 on clears.
- The Wildcats finished 1-for-2 on extra-man opportunities, while PSU was 0-for-5.
- This was the first meeting between the two programs.
