PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After a dominant week at the plate at THE Spring Games last week, senior
Kenzie Bessette (Cranston, R.I.) earned weekly honors from the Little East Conference (LEC), the league announced on Monday.
Bessette was named LEC Softball Player of the Week after posting a .609/.625/.826 slash line over seven games in Florida. She went 8-for-9 in stolen base attempts, scored 11 runs and drove in four to help the Panthers to a 4-8 record on the trip.
Bessette finished 14-for-23 with two doubles and a home run. She went 4-for-4 with a double and homer, scoring three runs with two RBIs and a stolen base in a 6-4 win over Manchester University on Monday. She also went 2-for-2 with a walk, scored three times and stole three bases in Thursday's 4-1 victory over Smith College. She recorded at least one hit in every game and scored in six of her seven appearances.
She ranks among the top five in the LEC in several offensive categories, sitting first in steals (14), second in batting average (.552), third in on-base percentage (.581) and hits (16), fourth in OPS (1.305) and home runs (1), and fifth in slugging percentage (.724). Her 11 runs scored are tied for sixth.
Plymouth State travels to Albertus Magnus on Wednesday (Mar. 25) for a non-conference doubleheader with the Falcons.
