MH: Tremblay-Mathieu named New England All-Star by NEHWA

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The New England Hockey Writers Association (NEHWA) announced its 2025-26 postseason award winners on Friday, and freshman Étienne Tremblay-Mathieu (Québec City, Québec) was among those honored.

Tremblay-Mathieu, a freshman defenseman, was one of 20 men's ice hockey players recognized as a New England Division II-III All-Star, which included just three first-year players.

Already voted the inaugural Little East Conference (LEC) Rookie of the Year, First Team All-LEC, and an LEC All-Rookie Team selection, Tremblay-Mathieu had an outstanding rookie campaign. He ranked near the top of the league in several offensive categories including assists, assists per game, and points per game. His 28 points led all LEC defensemen, and he tied for second on the team with 32 blocked shots while finishing the season with a +7 rating.

Plymouth State went 15-11-1 overall and 11-6-1 in the first season of LEC hockey, earning the No. 3 seed for the LEC Tournament. The Panthers defeated sixth-seeded VTSU Castleton, 5-2, in the first round before falling to second-seeded and No. 13-ranked Babson in the semifinals.

Tremblay-Mathieu and the other All-Stars, along with recipients of the Walter Brown Award, Joe Concannon Award, and J. Thom Lawler Award, will be recognized at the NEHWA awards brunch on Apr. 19 at the Prince Restaurant in Saugus, Mass. Food and beverages will be served at noon, with the awards presentation beginning at 12:30 p.m. Anyone interested in attending the event should contact Joe Bertagna at j2b2hockey@gmail.com. Tickets are $45 per person.
