PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Lauryn Corrigan (Littleton, N.H.) didn't drop a game in singles play to lead Plymouth State University to a 6-1 win over Salem State University in the Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis opener at the Holderness School Courts on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers swept doubles play to grab an early lead, then dropped just four games combined in four singles matches at No. 2, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 – including Corrigan's double bagel. Senior
Chloe Ahern (Middleton, Mass.) added a victory at No. 1 singles, while the Vikings secured their lone point with a third-set 10-point tiebreak win at No. 3.
Plymouth State improves to 2-1 (1-0 LEC), while Salem State falls to 0-2 (0-1 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Sophomore Leela Bakhshi (Plymouth, N.H.) and senior Anyah Fields (San Diego, Calif.) got the Panthers off to a strong start with a 6-1 win at No. 3 doubles.
- Ahern and Corrigan clinched the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 1, before senior Sofia Orama (Marlborough, Conn.) and sophomore Sidney Huff (Port Orchard, Wash.) completed the sweep at No. 2 doubles, 6-3.
- Huff and Fields made quick work of their opponents at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, with Huff winning 6-1, 6-0, and Fields 6-0, 6-1.
- Bakhshi secured the team victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 5, and Ahern went 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 to push the margin to 5-0.
- Corrigan cruised through No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
- Orama took the opening set, 6-4, but dropped the second set by the same score before falling, 10-7, in the 10-point tiebreak.
By the Numbers:
- Plymouth State avenged last year's setback to the Vikings. The Panthers have won 16 of the last 17 meetings.
- Bakhshi and Huff remain unbeaten in singles play, improving to 3-0 apiece.
