BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Sophomore
Emily Sousa (Farmington, Conn.) served seven aces and recorded a double-double with 13 assists and 10 digs to lead Plymouth State University to a sweep of Bridgewater State University, 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-15), in a non-conference women's volleyball match at Adrian Tinsley Center on Saturday.
Sousa notched three aces in the opening set to help Plymouth State erase an early five-point deficit for a 25-22 win. Senior
Christa Imbriano (Wakefield, Mass.) was all over the floor defensively in the second set, racking up eight digs to help PSU to a 25-20 win, and Sousa fired four consecutive aces as the Panthers pulled away in set three, 25-15.
Plymouth State improves to 7-3, while the Bears are 5-3.

How it Happened:
- The Bears built an 8-3 lead early in the opener, but Sousa's serving run, which included a pair of aces, helped PSU rally to take the lead. Junior Sydney Riley (Haverhill, Mass.) slammed back-to-back kills to snap a 17-17 tie and spark a 6-0 burst. Sousa capped the 25-22 win with a kill on set point.
- Bridgewater State held a narrow two-point edge, 9-7, early in set two. Sophomore Alice Borriello Diaz (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) ripped an ace to break a 16-16 tie during a six-point serving run, and PSU remained in front the rest of the way, with sophomore Sya McKay (Somersworth, N.H.) sealing the 25-20 win with a kill.
- Borriello Diaz went on another long serving run in the third set, with sophomore Brooke Wyatt (Concord, N.H.) providing a couple of kills in the burst as the Panthers went ahead by six, 12-6. The Bears pulled within three, 17-14, but a missed serve gave PSU the ball back, and Sousa followed with the decisive serving run, which included four consecutive aces, as Plymouth State closed out the 25-15 win.

- Sousa finished with 13 assists, 10 digs and seven aces.
- Riley led the Panthers with nine kills (.263) and four blocks, while McKay chipped in five kills and two blocks.
- Sophomore Fiona Bailey (Wrentham, Mass.) added five kills and hit .571.
- Imbriano paced the back row with 19 digs.
- Plymouth State improves to 4-0 on the road and 8-4 all-time against the Bears.
