BRISTOL, R.I. – Roger Williams University used a four-goal third quarter to pull away from Plymouth State University, 5-0, in a non-conference field hockey game at Bayside Field on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams came out of the gate trying to establish field position but neither defense allowed space as the game remained scoreless after the first quarter. The Hawks struck midway through the second quarter and carried a 1-0 lead into the half.
The third quarter was all RWU as the Hawks poured in four goals in a nine-minute span to take control. PSU attempted to mount a comeback in the late stages but was unable to find an answer for the Hawks' defense.
Plymouth State falls to 0-3, while Roger Williams improves to 3-0.
