GORHAM, Maine - Senior Adam
Krinsky (Concord, N.H.) had a team-high six points on
three goals and three assists Thursday afternoon, including the
100th assist of his career, as Plymouth State University
overpowered the University of Southern Maine, 20-4, in Little East
Conference men's lacrosse action at Hodgdon Field.
The Panthers won their second straight conference game to improve
to 7-4 overall and 2-3 in LEC play. The Huskies dropped their
sixth straight to fall to 2-10 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
The Panthers scored the first eight goals of the game, including
three by Krinsky, and were up 12-2 at halftime. After a
fairly even third quarter, the Panthers outscored the Huskies 6-1
in the fourth quarter to account for the final tally.
Krinsky picked up his 100th career assist on a goal by sophomore
Adam Rothbart (Portland, Maine) with 2:47 left in
the third quarter. He is the fifth player in PSU history to reach
the 100-career assist plateau. With the six-point effort,
Krinsky now has 91 goals and 101 assists in his career.
Senior Tony Aguiar (Northborough, Mass./Algonquin)
and sophomore Tim Hadley (New London,
N.H./Kearsarge) each registered three goals for the Panthers.
Rothbart, sophomores Steve Engel (South Windsor,
Conn.) and Brian Giroux (Wolfeboro Falls,
N.H./Brewster Academy) and freshman Andrew Eriksen
(Beverly, Mass.) scored two goals apiece.
For the Huskies, senior Shane Billings (North Berwick,
Maine/Noble), junior Preston Gilbert (Saco, Maine/Cheverus),
freshman Tyler Martin (Lisbon, Maine/St. Dominic) and senior Matt
Soule (Denmark, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) each scored once.
Gilbert and Billings also had an assist.
Freshmen goalies Billy Morgan (Winchester, Mass.)
and Kevin Hayes (Beverly, Mass.) each played a
half for the Panthers. Morgan was credited with four saves
and Hayes made two stops. Junior James Suriyodorn (Deer Park,
N.Y.) made 11 saves for the Huskies.
Southern Maine will host Mitchell College on Saturday (2:00 p.m.)
at Hodgdon Field. Plymouth State is at the University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth on Saturday (1:00 p.m.) for a Little East
Conference game.
