PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Senior Tara
Stewart (Londonderry, N.H.) scored nine goals Thursday afternoon to
lead Colby-Sawyer College to an 18-13 victory over Plymouth State
University in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at Arold
Field.
Stewart scored four goals in the first half and added five more in
the second half, giving her 61 goals on the season. The
Chargers have won three of their last four games to up their record
to 6-9, while the Panthers fall to 1-10.
Sophomore Taylor Cambal (West Yarmouth, Mass.) led
Plymouth State with five goals and two assists, while classmate
Kalie Judd (Peabody, Mass.) added four goals and
three assists. Sophomore Kerry D'Ambroise (Lowell,
Mass.) chipped in with three goals, and classmate Selina
Mazzola (Hollis, N.H.) contributed one.
The Chargers also got three goals apiece from sophomore Elaina
Kennedy (Sunderland, Mass.) and junior Alicia Murphy (North
Bennington, Vt.), and one each from senior Sarah McRoberts (Bourne,
Mass.), junior Julie Steese (Wilmot, N.H.) and freshman Hannah
Cullen (Penacook, N.H.)
It was a close throughout the first half. The game was tied
4-4 with 10 minutes remaining when Colby-Sawyer rattled off four
straight goals in a six-minute span, and CSC went on to hold a 9-7
advantage at halftime. After trading the first two goals of
the second half, the Chargers scored five unanswered goals to pull
ahead 15-8, and PSU got no closer than five the rest of the way.
Senior goalkeeper Sarah Beebe (Rumson, N.J.) made
18 saves in the Panther net while CSC goaltender Alicia Foos
(Hardwick, Vt.) registered nine saves to record the win.
PSU wraps up the regular season Saturday with a non-conference
match-up at Bridgewater State (1:00 p.m.) Colby-Sawyer has
concluded the regular season and begins The Commonwealth Coast
Conference Tournament on Tuesday.
