PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three members of the Plymouth State University women's lacrosse team were honored when the Little East Conference (LEC) announced its major award winners and all-conference selections on Wednesday.
Freshman
Evelyn Goudreau (Topsham, Maine) headlined the group with LEC Rookie of the Year honors following a standout debut season. Senior
Morgan Cunningham (Wrentham, Mass.) earned All-LEC First Team recognition, while freshman
Paige Carrow (Mansfield, Mass.) was named to the Second Team. Goudreau also picked up All-LEC Honorable Mention honors.
Under fourth-year head coach
Becky Dale, the Panthers went 8-10 overall and secured the No. 4 seed in the LEC Tournament with a win over UMass Boston in the regular-season finale. Plymouth State rallied from an early deficit to defeat the fifth-seeded Beacons, 15-10, in the first round, before falling to top-seeded and eventual champion WestConn in the semifinals.
Evelyn Goudreau:
- A 5-7 attack, Goudreau was the top goal-scoring first-year player in the conference.
- She finished eighth in the LEC with 41 goals and 11th with 2.28 goals per game.
- Goudreau also ranked among the league's top point producers, placing 11th with 52 points and 13th with 2.89 points per game.
- She scored at least one goal in 16 of 18 games, including four-goal performances in four separate contests.
- Her best outing came in a win over VTSU Castleton, when she totaled four goals and four assists.
- This is her first postseason honor.
Morgan Cunningham:
- A 5-8 attack, Cunningham led the Panthers with 59 points, fueled by a career-high 40 goals.
- She ranked eighth in the conference in points per game (3.69), ninth in goals (40), goals per game (2.50) and total points (59), and 11th in assists (19) and assists per game (1.19).
- Cunningham also set career highs in game-winning goals (5), ground balls (23) and caused turnovers (7).
- She finished her career with 91 goals, 57 assists and 148 points, tying for 21st on the program's all-time scoring list.
- This is her second postseason honor after earning Second Team recognition last spring.
Paige Carrow:
- A 5-10 defender, Carrow played a key role in transition, helping PSU post a .728 clear percentage.
- She led the team with 46 ground balls and ranked second with 17 caused turnovers.
- Carrow recorded three games with five or more ground balls, including a career-high six in the regular-season finale at UMass Boston.
- She also scored a goal in the Panthers' win over Rhode Island College on Apr. 11.
- This is her first postseason honor.
