PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Eleven different
players scored at least one goal Saturday afternoon as Plymouth
State University celebrated Senior Day with an 18-5 non-conference
victory over Wentworth Institute of Technology in men's lacrosse
action at Panther Field.
The Panthers led 5-0 after one quarter and extended the lead to
10-1 at halftime. The Panthers pulled away to a 14-2
advantage after three quarters before coasting home with the
win. PSU completes the regular season with a 10-5 overall
record, while Wentworth drops to 5-8.
Senior John Cogswell (Jefferson, Mass.) and
sophomore Brian Giroux (Wolfeboro Falls, N.H.) led
the PSU scoring parade with three goals and two assists
apiece. Seniors Adam Krinsky (Concord, N.H.)
and Mike Russell (Concord, N.H.) contributed two
goals and two assists each, and sophomore Kyle
Belanger (Southington, Conn.) chipped in with two goals
and an assist.
Junior Chris Wesche (Holden, Mass.) led the
visitors with two goals, while senior Nick Lambros
(Forestdale, Mass.), junior Cory Benulis (Victor,
N.Y.) and sophomore Bryan McCarthy (Medfield,
Mass.) contributed one each.
Both teams will be on the road on Tuesday in the first round of
their respective conference tournaments, Wentworth in The
Commonwealth Coast Conference Tourney and Plymouth State in the
Little East Conference Tournament. PSU will be the fifth seed
in the LEC Tourney and will visit fourth-seeded UMass Dartmouth,
who defeated the Panthers 13-6 a week ago.
