WATERVILLE, Maine - The
17th-ranked Colby College women's lacrosse team scored eight goals
in the opening 9:13 of play Tuesday afternoon on the way to a 22-2
non-conference victory over Plymouth State University at Bill
Alfond Field.
All-American Kate Sheridan (Hingham, Mass.) had four goals and four
assists for Colby to put her season totals at 34 goals and 22
assists for 56 points in just 10 games. Sheridan, a junior
midfielder, went over 50 career assists and now has 123 goals and
51 assists for 174 points.
Becky Julian (South Windsor, Conn.) added three goals and has 20 on
the season. Amy Campbell (North Andover, Mass.) and Caroline
Atwater (Catonsville, Md.) each had two goals and one assist, while
Heather Nickerson (Falmouth, Mass.) also had a pair of goals.
Plymouth State (1-4) received goals from sophomores Kerry
D'Ambroise (Lowell, Mass.) and Kalie Judd (Peabody, Mass.). The
Panthers tied the game at 1-1 with 28:40 left in the first half,
but Colby scored 10 goals over the next 11:39 to pull away for
good.
The Panthers return to Little East Conference action on Thursday
with a 6:30 p.m. contest at Keene State. The game was
originally scheduled to be played in Plymouth, but conditions at
PSU's Arold Field forced the contest to be moved to Keene.
