WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Senior Molly
Corcoran (Concord, N.H.) scored her only goal of the game
with 7:44 remaining in the fourth quarter Friday afternoon,
breaking a 10-10 tie and sending Keene State College to a 12-10
non-conference women's lacrosse victory over Plymouth State
University during the teams' spring trips to Florida.
Plymouth State took the lead early in the game and maintained the
advantage until six minutes had gone by in the second half. PSU had
its largest lead, 8-5, early in the second half. The score
was then tied 8-8 four minutes later, 9-9 at the midway point of
the second half and 10-10 with 9:25 remaining before Corcoran
netted the eventual game-winner. Junior Dene Tully (Peabody,
Mass.) added an insurance goal for the Owls with 6:07 to play.
The Owls, who won two of their three games on the trip, improve to
2-3. Plymouth State falls to 0-3 on the season
Tully finished with three goals for KSC, while sophomores Emily
Persano (Somers, Conn.), Jill Kirk (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.)
and Jaime Albert (Southington, Conn.) tallied two goals
apiece. Freshman Samantha Benson (Hampstead, N.H.) added a
goal and two assists, while Corcoran and Sarah Valacer (Townsend,
Mass.) scored once each.
Junior Taylor Cambal (West Yarmouth, Mass.) led
all scorers with four goals and one assist for Plymouth
State. Classmate Kalie Judd (Peabody, Mass.)
added three goals, senior Melissa Dark
(Peterborough, N.H.) chipped in with a pair, and freshman
Nicole Grover (Yarmouth, Maine) contributed a goal
and an assist. Judd also collected a game-high seven draw
controls.
Sophomore Meghan Ledoux (Standish, Me.) made a career high 14 saves
for KSC in her first start of the season in goal, Freshman
Nicole Provencher (Guilford, Conn.) also stopped
14 shots for PSU.
Both teams play Springfield College in their next outing.
Keene State hosts Springfield on Tuesday (4:30 p.m.), and Plymouth
State travels to Springfield on Thursday (6:00 p.m.)
