NEWTON, Mass. - Senior Mike Magglio (Winchester,
Mass.) scored three goals and set up four others Tuesday afternoon
to lead Lasell College to a 14-7 victory over Plymouth State
University in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Grellier
Field.
Magglio got all four of his assists in the first half as Lasell
took a 6-0 lead through the first two quarters. It was 8-0 in
the third quarter before PSU regrouped and scored five of the next
six goals over a 10-minute span to cut the margin to 9-5, but
Magglio scored two straight for the Lasers early in the fourth
quarter to get the lead back up to six goals and put the game out
of reach for the Panthers.
Junior Brandon Keith (Marstons Mills, Mass.) led the Lasers with
four goals, while classmate Brian Yepez (Hillsborough, N.J.) and
freshman Patrick Bresnahan (Manchester, N.H./Memorial) added two
goals each and seniors Dave Bulhoes (Billerica, Mass.) and Ryan
Koermer (Floral Park, N.Y.) and freshman Dan Wilson (somewhere)
contributed one apiece. Keith picked up a team-high seven
ground balls for the Lasers.
Junior Matt Johansmeyer (Shelburne Falls, Mass.)
topped the Panther offense with a pair of goals, while classmates
Brian Giroux (Wolfeboro Falls, N.H.),
Brett Zebrowski (Bayville, N.Y.), Adam
Rothbart (Portland, Maine/Deering) and Tim
Hadley (New London, N.H./Kearsarge) and sophomore
Andrew Eriksen (Beverly, Mass.) contributed one
goal each. Junior Steve Engel (South
Windsor, Conn.) collected a team-high five ground balls and won
seven face-offs.
Plymouth State, 0-3, opens Little East Conference play this
Saturday with a visit to Western Connecticut State University for a
3:00 p.m. opening face-off. Lasell, 2-5, opens Pilgrim League
action Saturday at MIT (11:00 a.m.)
