PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore Jenn
Foley (Tewksbury, Mass.) reached career highs for the
second time in three games Sunday afternoon as Plymouth State
University defeated Rhode Island College, 22-12, in a Little East
Conference women's lacrosse game at Arold Field.
Foley, who had five goals and two assists in a win over Framingham
State on Thursday, tallied six goals and two assists against RIC to
lead the PSU attack to its the second-highest output of the
season. The Panthers won their fourth game in a row,
improving to 8-4 overall and 3-1 in the Little East and remaining
within striking distance of league-leading Keene State. RIC
suffered its fifth straight loss and dipped to 3-8 overall and 0-4
in the LEC.
Seniors Kalie Judd (Peabody, Mass.) and
Kerry D'Ambroise (Lowell, Mass.) also
collected six points apiece for the home team, Judd with a goal and
five assists and D'Ambroise with three goals and three
assists. Judd also continued her outstanding play in the
center circle, collecting 13 draw controls and four ground balls.
Junior Kathryn Rogers (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and
freshman Marie Lander (Ossipee, N.H.) also scored
four times each for PSU.
The outcome offset a strong performance by RIC sophomore Molly
Voyer (Lincoln, R.I.), who scored six goals in the losing effort.
Plymouth State took a 3-0 lead in the first five minutes of the
game. The Panthers maintained the advantage throughout the first
half, scoring the last five goals for a 14-6 margin at the
break. PSU tallied the first two goals of the second half and
enjoyed a double-digit lead most of the second half.
PSU is home again Tuesday for a pivotal contest at 4:00 p.m.
against LEC-leading Keene State. RIC returns home to host LEC
foe Southern Maine Tuesday also at 4:00 p.m.
