NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Senior
Kalie Judd (Peabody, Mass.) recorded a career-high
nine points Saturday afternoon as the Plymouth State University
women's lacrosse team powered past the University of
Massachusetts Dartmouth, 19-5, in the Little East Conference opener
for both schools at Cressy Field.
Judd notched five goals and added four assists and sophomore
Jenn Foley (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored a career-best
five goals to lead PSU to the win. Senior Kerry
D'Ambroise (Lowell, Mass.) contributed three goals
for the Panthers and sophomore Brianna Davis
(Framingham, Mass.) chipped in with two goals and three assists. It
was Plymouth State's highest scoring output since a 20-7
victory over Western Connecticut in 2007.
Davis and Judd scored early goals for PSU and freshman
Caitlin Swanson (Holderness, N.H.) followed with
back-to-back strikes to put the visitors up by four goals 10
minutes into the game. Senior Liz Stapleton (Wakefield,
Mass.) put the Corsairs on the board, but PSU rattled off six
unanswered goals, two each from Foley and Judd and one apiece from
Davis and D'Ambroise, to go up 10-1 en route to a 12-2
halftime lead. Plymouth State also scored six unanswered
goals in the second half to put the game away.
Senior Morgan Lemmon (Gilford, N.H.) and sophomore
Ally Baribault (Middle Haddam, Conn) split time in
the Panther goal, Lemmon making four saves in the first half and
Baribault making two stops in the second half. Sophomore
Britney Chiles (North Andover, Mass.) led the
Panthers with four draw controls, and Davis and Chiles each picked
up three ground balls.
PSU, 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the LEC, is off until next Saturday
when they visit Eastern Connecticut State University for a key LEC
match-up, followed by the home opener on Sunday, Apr. 11, against
Thomas College. UMD, 2-2 overall and 0-1 in the LEC, hosts
Salve Regina on Tuesday.
