Keene State soars past PSU Men's Lax in LEC Tourn.

Panthers no match for Owls

            KEENE, N.H. – Second-seeded Keene State College had little trouble in defeating sixth-seeded Plymouth State University Thursday afternoon in a Little East Conference men's lacrosse semifinal game, defeating the Panthers 21-0 at the Owl Athletic Complex.

            The Owls, 10-5 overall, advance to the LEC championship game at  top-seeded Eastern Connecticut State University (11-5), this Saturday at 1:00 in Mansfield, Conn.

            PSU, which upset third-seeded Western Connecticut State University in Tuesday's quarterfinal, completes its season at 10-6 overall.

            Ian Hart led the Owls with five goals, while Matt Schairer contributed four goals and three assists and Taylor Jette added three goals and three assists.  Keene State led 4-0 after one quarter and 10-0 at halftime before coasting home in the second half.

            KSC doubled up PSU in the shots department, 50-25, and won the battle of loose balls, winning 15 of 25 face-offs and picking up more ground balls, 36-30. PSU senior goalie Jack Tyo made seven saves before departing with five minutes left.  Freshman long-stick Mike Curley shared game-high honors with seven ground balls.
