Box Score Allard makes 11 saves in non-conference setback
BABSON PARK, Mass. – Junior Meaghan Allard (Amherst, N.H.) made 11 saves, but Babson College topped Plymouth State University 14-5 in a non-conference women's lacrosse game at MacDowell Field on Saturday.
Babson built a 4-0 lead less than 11 minutes into the contest, but PSU pulled to within 5-2. The Beavers recovered, though, and pushed the advantage to 8-2 at the break. The hosts used a 4-1 spurt to open the second half to hold off any rally by the Panthers.
Plymouth State evens its record at 1-1, while the Beavers improve to 2-1.

How it Happened.
- Babson scored the game's first five goals before junior Meg McAndrew (South Windsor, Conn.) and freshman Emily Santom (Litchfield, N.H.) pulled the Panthers to within 5-2 with just under seven minutes in the half.
- Beavers' junior Georgia Salvatore (Westwood, Mass.) closed the half with three straight goals as the hosts took an 8-2 lead into the break.
- After a Babson goal to open the second half, Santom buried her second of the game to make it 9-3 with 24:18 left to play.
- The home team followed with three straight to put the game out of reach.
- Sophomore Devon Mello (Laconia, N.H.) and freshman Alanna Joyce (Windham, Maine) scored for the Panthers but the deficit was too large to overcome.
Inside the Numbers:
- Santom led the Panthers with two goals.
- Joyce's goal was her first collegiate tally.
- Mello posted a team-high four draw controls, while junior Faye Brown (Londonderry, N.H.) had a team-best four caused turnovers.
- Freshman Autumn Nelson (Weare, N.H.) led the Panthers with five ground balls.
- Allard made 11 saves and added four ground balls but dropped to 1-1 on the young season.
