FALMOUTH, Mass. – Six different players scored as Plymouth State University picked up its first Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) win of the season when the Panthers topped University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, 6-3, at Falmouth Ice Arena on Saturday night.
The hosts took a first period lead just under three minutes into action, but PSU responded with four straight goals, capped by a power play strike from junior
Niks Krollis (Riga, Latvia) in the final minute, to take a 4-1 lead into the second intermission.
The Corsairs used a power play tally to cut into the margin early in the third, but sophomore
Jeromey Rancourt (Lewiston, Maine) scored a short-handed marker eight minutes later and another PSU goal extended the lead to 6-2, before UMD capped the scoring with a short-handed goal of its own in the final minute.
Plymouth State improves to 3-1-1 (1-0-1 MASCAC), while the Corsairs fall to 4-2-0 and 2-1-0 in the MASCAC.

How it Happened:
- The Corsairs took an early lead after just three shots to go up 1-0 at the 2:53 mark.
- Junior Myles Abbate (Norwell, Mass.) pulled the Panthers even five minutes later after cleaning up the rebound of his own shot and junior Marcus Seidl (Stockholm, Sweden) gave PSU the lead with 6:48 left in the frame to hold a 2-1 lead after the first.
- Krollis set up senior Colin Stevens (Concord, N.H.) midway through the second, before scoring a power play goal of his own as Plymouth State extended the lead to 4-1.
- UMass Dartmouth trimmed the deficit with a power play score early in the third and looked poised to get even closer with another power play chance midway through the frame, but Rancourt tallied a short-handed goal to make it 5-2.
- Sophomore Anton Nasstrom (Ornskoldsvik, Sweden) pushed the lead to 6-2 with 6:35 left in the third, before the hosts added a late short-handed goal to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Sophomore goaltender Kalle Andersson (Taby, Sweden) made 29 saves to earn the win.
- Plymouth State held a 46-32 advantage in shots on goal and 65-45 overall.
- The Panthers went 1-of-6 on the power play, while UMD was 1-for-5. Each team had a short-handed tally.
- Stevens, Krollis and Nasstrom each finished with a goal and an assist.
- PSU improves to 20-2-1 in its last 23 meetings with the Corsairs.
