DANBURY, Conn. – Sophomore
Tom Steinberg (Melrose, Mass.) set a pair of school records, but Western Connecticut State University eked out a 103-95 win over Plymouth State University in Little East Conference (LEC) men's swimming action at O'Neill Athletic Center on Friday.
Steinberg established new marks in the 50-yard and 100-yard butterfly, while senior
Ryan Kudish (North Providence, R.I.) and freshmen
Jimmy Blanco (Stark, N.H.) and
Lyden Fogg (South Portland, Maine) were all individual event winners for the Panthers.
Plymouth State dips to 0-2 in dual meets, while WestConn improves to 3-2-1.

How it Happened:
- Steinberg shaved nearly four full seconds off his previous school record time in the 100-yard butterfly after finishing second in 1:10.86. His 29.05 in the 50-yard butterfly was also a school best by just shy of one second.
- Fogg, Kudish, Blanco and junior James Farrell (Brentwood, England) teamed up to win the 200-yard medley relay in 1:56.37.
- Kudish was first to touch the wall in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 12:17.57, with Fogg taking the 50-yard backstroke in 31.04. Blanco paced the field in the 100-yard freestyle with a winning time of 58.84.
- Kudish rounded out his day with second place finishes in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:09.09) and 100-yard IM (1:03.82).
- Farrell was the second fastest in both the 50-yard breaststroke (33.17) and 50-yard freestyle (25.97), while Fogg was runner-up in the 100-yard backstroke (1:07.42).
- Blanco added a second place showing in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.73).
- Fogg, Farrell, Steinberg and freshman Adam Cilley (Barrington, N.H.) joined forces to win the 200-yard freestyle relay with a combined time of 1:49.27.
