PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Myles Abbate (Norwell, Mass.) potted the game-winning goal midway through the overtime period to give Plymouth State University a 3-2 win over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth during a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's ice hockey game at Hanaway Rink on Tuesday.
Abbate snagged a rebound off a shot from graduate student
JR Barone (West Chester, Pa.) to snap a 2-2 tie with the Corsairs 2:32 into overtime.
Plymouth State had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 behind goals from freshman
Anton Jellvik (Taby, Sweden) and sophomore
Whim Stalberg (Gotenberg, Sweden), but the visitors caught a break when a shot deflected off the leg of a skater and into the goal to tie the game with just 35 seconds remaining.
PSU put pressure on the Corsairs early in the overtime period and Barone snapped off a quick shot from the low slot that rebounded in front of the net, where Abbate buried it to secure the win.
Plymouth State launches its record to 10-4-2 (7-1-2 MASCAC), while UMass Dartmouth falls to 7-6-1 and 4-3-1 in league play.

- With the extra skater on the ice, UMD slapped in the equalizer when a shot from the point caromed off the leg of a defender and into the goal to force overtime.
