SALEM, Mass. – Junior
Athena Comeau (Rutland, Mass.) scored for the sixth straight game and classmate
Piper Sherbert (Freeport, Maine) made four saves for her first career shutout as Plymouth State University blanked Salem State University, 4-0, in a Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey matchup on Alumni Field on Tuesday night.
Sophomore
Amy Cohen (Concord, N.H.) opened the scoring on an assist from junior
Taylor Healey (Campton, N.H.) at the ten-minute mark of the first quarter for an early 1-0 lead. Despite a flurry of chances, the margin remained just 1-0 heading into halftime.
The Panthers pressured throughout the third quarter but couldn't seem to find the bounced they needed. Comeau finally pounced early in the fourth quarter to give PSU a 2-0 lead and some momentum.
PSU extended its lead soon after when freshman
Caroline Coleman (Conway, N.H.) notched her third of the season. Junior
Jenna Freni (Lynnfield, Mass.) capped the scoring with her second of the year just with just over five minutes to play to seal the 4-0 win.
Plymouth State improves to 8-4 (6-2 LEC), while Salem State drops to 4-7 (2-5 LEC).

- The Panthers got onto the board ten minutes into the contest on Cohen's eighth of the season.

- Plymouth State pressured throughout the third quarter but couldn't solve the Salem State defense.
- Comeau pounced on a loose ball for her ninth of the year and a 2-0 lead.
- Coleman added her second of the season just minutes later.
- Freni closed out the win with her second of the season with just over five minutes remaining.
