WORCESTER, Mass. – Junior
Athena Comeau (Rutland, Mass.) scored in her seventh straight game and classmate
Taylor Healey (Campton, N.H.) added her team-leading 18th goal of the year as Plymouth State University topped Worcester State University, 4-1, in a Little East Conference (LEC) field hockey game at Coughlin Memorial Field on Saturday evening.
Healey opened the scoring just 2:41 into the game when she took a Lancers' defender wide and buried it into the back of the cage for the early 1-0 lead. Worcester State answered back near the midway point of the first to tie the game at one, but Comeau got on the board late in the quarter off a feed from sophomore
Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) to regain the lead.
Comeau netted her second of the game just over three minutes before the half, sending PSU into the break with a comfortable 3-1 lead.
The Panthers controlled the game throughout the second half and freshman
Caroline Coleman (Conway, N.H.) netted her fourth of the season in the late stages of the game off a feed from senior
Alessia Salzillo (Saugus, Mass.) to seal the win for PSU, 4-1. Junior
Piper Sherbert (Freeport, Maine) made four saves in her second straight win.
Plymouth State improves to 9-4 (7-2 LEC), while Worcester State drops to 9-6 (6-2 LEC).

How it Happened:
- PSU got on the board first on a goal from Healey, her 18th of the season, just under three minutes in.
- The Lancers evened the score halfway through the first.
- Comeau scored her 10th of the year late in the first to regain the Panthers lead, 2-1.
- Comeau added another goal in the second quarter to send PSU into the break up 3-1.
- Both teams allowed limited chances for a majority of the second half.
- Coleman broke the offense open and found the back of the cage off a feed from Salzillo to make it 4-1 with just over six minutes remaining.
- Sherbert was rock solid in net, making four saves for the win.
