WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Plymouth State University women's basketball team lost its first game of the season, falling at Westfield State University, 77-31, in non-conference action at the Woodward Center on Saturday afternoon.
After a season opening victory for PSU earlier in the week, the Panthers were unable to get into a groove offensively after several stoppages in play kept the team from getting in a rhythm.

Plymouth State slips to 1-1 on the season, while the Owls improve to 2-0.

How it Happened:
- After a sluggish start by both teams, Plymouth State landed the first points of the game on an elbow three-pointer from junior Jalen Cook (Monkton, Vt.) with 6:46 on the clock.
- The Owls responded, using a 17-2 run to take a 17-5 lead at the 3:01 mark.
- The tough Westfield State defense limited PSU to just three field goals in the first quarter as the score was 20-10 after one.
- The second quarter started much like the first, with several whistles and only one field goal by the Owls in the first three minutes.
- PSU trailed 45-15 at the half.
- Plymouth State came out of the locker room with some fire, outscoring the hosts 14-13 in the third quarter with less than a minute on the clock.
- The Panthers continued to play tough in the fourth quarter, but could not rally from the first half deficit.
