PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshmen
Maddie Hunt (Littleton, Mass.) and
Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) had huge games in their collegiate debuts as the duo, along with junior
Emily Santom (Litchfield, N.H.) all recorded hat tricks to lead Plymouth State University to a 17-1 blowout win over Wentworth Institute of Technology Tuesday afternoon at Panther Field.
Hunt sparked a scoring explosion in the first quarter as she accounted for half of the team's six goals to seize control of the game right from the onset. Donovan added to the early barrage and tacked on a pair in the second quarter, while Santom poured in her second, third and fourth goals of the game all in the final 20 minutes.
Plymouth State (1-0) opens its season on the right foot, while Wentworth falls to 0-1.

How it Happened:
- Hunt tallied her first goal of the game to spark the offense as junior Olivia Croke (Norwell, Mass.) added two unassisted scored and Santom converted a feed from freshman Elle Moshier (Stratford, Conn.) to put the Panthers up 4-0 in just the first ten minutes.
- Hunt finished off the first quarter with back-to-back scores to complete the early hat trick as PSU took a 6-0 lead into the second frame.
- Donovan notched her second on a helper from Santom just two minutes into the second quarter, but Wentworth got on the board to make it 7-1.
- After some back-and-forth play, Donovan completed her hat trick and ended the first half with an 8-1 lead.
- Sophomore Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) snagged a feed from Croke to continue the rampage on the Wentworth cage and senior Devon Mello (Laconia, N.H.) got into the action with consecutive scores to expand the lead to 11-1.
- With the clock running down, Moshier and Santom combined to post another five scores before sophomore Tarryn O'Brien (Weymouth, Mass.) wrapped up the scoring with her first to account for the final score.

- Mello, junior Julia Mahoney (Stratford, Conn.) and senior Kaylee St. Laurent (Alfred, Maine) each grabbed four ground balls, while St. Laurent forced two turnovers.
- Moshier corralled eight draw controls, with Mahoney adding seven.
