Riley Roy (Laconia, N.H.) and sophomore
Crosby Fay (Waterville Valley, N.H.) combined for six goals and Plymouth State University nearly completed a furious fourth quarter rally, but Norwich University was able to hold on for a 13-10 win over the Panthers in a non-conference men's lacrosse game at Panther Field on Sunday afternoon.
Norwich jumped out to a 7-0 lead midway through the second quarter before the Panthers' offense found its groove. Roy and Fay scored back-to-back goals to cut the margin to 7-2 at the half, and PSU tallied three of the first four goals of the third quarter to pull within 8-5.
The Cadets answered to close the frame on a 4-1 surge to make it 12-6 heading into the fourth quarter, but Plymouth State rallied with four consecutive goals to slice the deficit to 12-10 with over four minutes remaining. PSU nearly cut the margin to one, but the Cadets' goaltender made a key save and the visitors were able to get an insurance goal on the ensuing possession to account for the final score.
