PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Emily Santom (Litchfield, N.H.) and freshman
Maddie Hunt (Littleton, Mass.) scored four goals apiece and nine different players recorded a point as Plymouth State University blasted New England College, 20-1, in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Don Melander Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Santom scored three times in the first quarter alone as PSU roared out of the gates to a 6-0 advantage after one. The Panthers continued to find the back of the cage time and again, pushing the lead to 13-0 at the half and adding another five tallies in the third quarter. NEC spoiled the shutout bid with just 2:35 remaining on the clock to account for the final score.
Plymouth State runs its record to 5-1, while the Pilgrims drop to 2-3.

How it Happened:
- Plymouth State got out to a quick start as freshman Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) put the Panthers on the board just 21 seconds into the game.
- Junior Olivia Croke (Norwell, Mass.) followed with her first of the day, before Santom ripped off three straight scores for a 5-0 lead.
- Freshman Elle Moshier (Stratford, Conn.) found the back of the cage late in the period as PSU took a 6-0 lead into the second quarter.
- The Panthers poured in seven more goals in the second frame, with Hunt scoring twice and Santom recording her fourth of the day with just nine seconds left before halftime.
- PSU added another five goals in the third quarter for an 18-0 advantage heading into the final 15 minutes.
- Hunt and sophomore Tarryn O'Brien (Weymouth, Mass.) each scored to make it 20-1 before NEC spoiled the shutout with 2:35 remaining to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Plymouth State outshot the Pilgrims by a 37-8 margin and limited the home team to just two second-half shots.
- Sophomore Piper Sherbert (Freeport, Maine) made three stops over the first three quarters, while classmate Amanda Auditore (Medford, Mass.) defended the cage in the fourth.
- The Panthers went 15-for-17 on clear attempts, while holding NEC to just 8-of-22.
- PSU held a 31-19 advantage in ground balls and a 14-9 edge in draw controls.
- Donovan, Santom, Hunt, O'Brien, Croke, Moshier and junior Sarah Schartner (Plymouth, N.H.) all had multi-point games.
- Moshier led the team with six ground balls, with Croke scooping up five. Moshier also had a team-high four draw controls.
- Hunt and sophomore Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) each finished with four caused turnovers.
