PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior
Emily Santom (Litchfield, N.H.) scored three times in less than four minutes of action as Plymouth State University exploded past the University of Maine Farmington, 22-1, Saturday afternoon in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Panther Field.
Santom sparked the momentum with a pair of goals in 51 seconds and added her third just minutes later to complete her second hat trick of the season and put the Panthers up 3-0.
From there, freshman
Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) and junior
Olivia Croke (Norwell, Mass.) rallied together for another six scores. The duo, along with Santom, would end the game with a combined 13 goals.
UMaine Farmington was able to avoid a shutout loss with a score late in the fourth quarter, but by that time the Panthers had the game well in hand.
Plymouth State remains unbeaten as the Panthers improve to 3-0, while the Beavers (0-1) start the season on a sour note.

How it Happened:
- Santom cruised her way to a hat trick with a quick two scores in the first minute of the game and she added a third just a few minutes later to put the Panthers ahead 3-0 after the first four minutes.
- Donovan and Croke used the momentum to split a total of six scores to close out the first quarter with a 9-0 lead.
- The duo of Sarah Schartner (Plymouth, N.H.) and freshman Maddie Hunt (Littleton, Mass.) rallied Plymouth State to leap to a 12-0 lead to head into halftime.
- UMaine Farmington avoided the shutout with 5:39 left in the game with their lone score, but the outcome was well decided by then as the Panthers walked away with the decisive victory.
By the Numbers:
- Plymouth State caused 14 turnovers. Sophomore Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) led the way with three, while juniors Jalen Cook (Monkton, Vt.) and Autumn Nelson (Weare, N.H.) and Hunt added two apiece.
- Junior Amelia Thomas (Hopkinton, N.H.) pulled down nine draw controls, with Gaspa contributing five as the Panthers owned the control by a 22-5 margin.
- Croke led the offensive barrage with five goals and seven points, while Santom and freshman Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) chipped in four each. Sophomore Tarryn O'Brien (Weymouth, Mass.) contributed three goals and two assists to give PSU four players with hat tricks.
- Plymouth State was 8-for-10 in clear attempts while holding UMF to 6-of-18.
- The Panthers' explosive offense outshot the Beavers by a 40-7 margin.
