PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore
Tessa LaBarre (North Smithfield, R.I.) won a second set tiebreak to force a decisive third set, but NCAA Division II Saint Anselm College topped Plymouth State University, 7-0, in non-conference women's tennis action at the South Athletic Field Courts on Thursday afternoon.
After dropping the opening set, LaBarre battled back and controlled the tiebreak to win the second set 7-6 (7-2). Her opponent went on to win the decisive ten-point tiebreak, 10-7, however.
Plymouth State evens its record at 1-1 while the Hawks move to 1-2.

How it Happened:
- Saint Anselm picked up a pair of 6-2 wins in doubles action to secure its first team point.
- LaBarre rallied after falling 6-2 in the opener to win the second set tiebreaker 7-6 (7-2) but came up just short in a third set ten-point tiebreak, 10-7, at No. 3 singles.
- Freshman Alyssa Craigie (Gilford, N.H.) put up a strong effort at No. 4, ultimately dropping a 6-1, 6-3 decision.
- Sophomore Elena Cardoso (Hudson, Mass.) took a game from her opponent in the first set, while the Hawks powered through the remaining action.
By the Numbers:
- LaBarre made her season debut after going 12-3 last season to earn All-Little East Conference recognition.
- LaBarre teamed up with senior Megan Marshall (Dartmouth, Mass.) at No. 1 doubles, the first time the two have been paired together.
- Craigie and Cardoso joined forces at No. 2 doubles.
- Plymouth State last beat the Hawks during the 1993-94 season.
