DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Junior
Ashley Plante (Concord, N.H.) tapped in her third goal of the season, but the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth used two second-half goals to top Plymouth State University, 3-1, in the Little East Conference (LEC) opener for both schools at Cressy Field on Friday night.
Plante took advantage of a one-on-one situation with the opposing goalie after freshman
Molly Bellmore (Hebron, Conn.) made a clean pass on a breakaway. Plante fired a shot to the corner of the net for the first score of the night.
The Panthers went back-and-forth with UMD but couldn't maintain control as the hosts pulled even late in the first half and added the only two scores of the second half to pull away for the win.
