PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshman
Max Goodman (South Salem, N.Y.) pulled out an impressive performance in his collegiate debut, helping the Plymouth State University men's cross country team to a perfect score while winning the Charger Invitational hosted by Colby-Sawyer College on Saturday. His efforts were rewarded by the Little East Conference (LEC), as Goodman was named LEC Men's Cross Country Rookie Runner of the Week.
Goodman began in the front pack and maintained his effort to finish the 5k course with a time of 16:47.88, good enough for fourth place overall. He averaged a 5:24.1 mile and crossed the line 50 seconds ahead of the next fastest rookie runner.
Goodman was an asset for the Panthers, as they swept the top five positions to take the first perfect score in school history and win the meet for the fourth straight year.
The Panthers are off next weekend before heading to Gordon College for the Pop Crowell Invitational on Sept. 17.
