PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Camilla Puzio (Holden, Mass.) won both of her matches, but Colby-Sawyer College snuck past Plymouth State University, 5-4, in a non-conference women's tennis match at the Holderness School Courts on Wednesday.
The Chargers leaped out to a 2-0 start after claiming the first two doubles matches, but Puzio and junior
Tessa LaBarre (North Smithfield, R.I.) prevented the sweep with an 8-5 win.
Colby-Sawyer never wavered, though, snagging the first three singles to secure the win (5-1) and ensure Plymouth State could not come back.
Puzio nabbed one of the next points for PSU after dominating the first set, 6-3, and holding off a challenge in set two, 7-5, while the Panthers also won at No. 4 and No. 5 singles to account for the final score.
Plymouth State evens out at 5-5, while Colby-Sawyer rises to 6-3-1.

How it Happened:
- After the Chargers took No. 1 and No. 3 doubles by the same 8-3 margin, Puzio and LaBarre snatched an 8-5 win at No. 2 to put the score at 2-1.
- Colby-Sawyer picked up wins at the top three singles slots to secure the win with a 5-1 lead, but Plymouth State did not fold.
- Senior Sarah Asciutto (Manchester Center, Vt.) picked up a win at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-4, and Puzio battled hard at No. 6 for a 6-3, 7-5 win to inch the Panthers to within 5-3.
- Junior Elena Cardoso (Hudson, Mass.) carried the momentum into No. 5 singles with a 6-3, 6-4 result to account for the final score.
