PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's soccer team defeated the Vermont State University Lyndon Hornets, 9-0, in a non-conference match on Arold Field in a Wednesday matinee.
It was a comfortable afternoon for the Panthers who were able to spread the ball around throughout the match. Leading the way for Plymouth State was sophomore
Emily Wilson (Salem, N.H.) who tallied two goals and one assist, while classmate
Cass Hanson (Stetson, Maine.) and senior
Emma Simkewicz (Westminster, Mass.) recorded one goal and one assist each.
Also scoring for the Panthers were graduate student
Abbey Johnson (Orlando, Fla.), sophomores
Emily McDonough (Peabody, Mass.) and
Sophie Pimental (Bristol, R.I.), and freshmen
Emily Olsen (Freeport, Maine.) and
Ava Knighton (Clayton, Del.), while sophomore
Vicky Taylor (Bellingham, Mass.) recorded an assist.
Plymouth State is now 3-1-1 in its last five games, outscoring opponents 17-4 during that stretch.
The Panthers improve to 4-7-3, as VTSU Lyndon falls to 1-11-0 on the season.

How it Happened:
- The Panthers took early control, scoring three goals in the first 15 minutes of play.
- By halftime, Plymouth State increased the advantage to 5-0, giving the Hornets little chance to wage a comeback.
- A penalty kick goal scored by Wilson in the 51st minute set the tone for the second half as the Panthers sealed the home win.
- The Hornets had a breakaway attempt in the 64th minute to break into the scoreline, but sophomore Gabby Mangini (West Hartford, Conn.) made the lone Panther save to secure the shutout.
