FH: Healey scores in OT as Panthers stop Framingham St.

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Seniors Taylor Healey (Campton, N.H.) and Athena Comeau (Rutland, Mass.) each scored two goals and added an assist as Plymouth State University defeated Framingham State University, 4-3, in overtime in a non-conference field hockey game at Maple Street Field on Thursday night.

The hosts got on the board first, just 52 seconds into the contest, and carried the 1-0 lead into the second quarter. Comeau scored her first of the night 3:57 into the second to tie the game at one and the score remained deadlocked as the game got to halftime.

Coming out of the break, the Panthers' offense woke up when Healey scored her team-leading 18th goal of the season to give PSU its first lead of the game with under a minute to go in the quarter. Just over two minutes into the final frame, freshman Sarah Adamske (Windham, N.H.) found a wide open Comeau on the doorstep, and she slammed home her second of the night for a 3-1 lead.

The advantage was short-lived, though, as the Rams fought back to tie things at 3-3 with two goals in the next six minutes of play and regulation ended with the score knotted at three.

Healey had a good look in the early stages of overtime, but her shot attempt sailed wide. The Rams went down the field and threw a long pass towards the PSU goal. The pass eluded Plymouth State defenders and goalie Kayla Antonucci (Windham, N.H.), however the Panthers were able to move the ball to Comeau, who came charging down the field. She sidestepped a Rams' defender and slid a beautiful pass to send Healey in alone on goal. Healey faked left and moved right and her shot found the back of the cage for the dramatic overtime win.
