PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's basketball team fell to Rhode Island College, 74-49, in a Little East Conference (LEC) game at Foley Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to tipoff to Plymouth State honored the senior class in a brief
Senior Day ceremony;
Autumn Nelson (Weare, N.H.),
Sarah Sweet (Narragansett, R.I.),
Jalen Cook (Monkton, Vt.),
Emily VanSteensburg (Laconia, N.H.) and
Halie Hurd (Washington, N.H.).
The Anchorwomen, ranked third in Region II and tied atop the LEC, continued their dominance of the league by handing the Panthers a loss to close out the season.
Freshman
Sophie George (Meredith, N.H.) led the Panthers with 13 points while Cook scored 12 points of her own. Junior
Sabrina Vlahovic (New Hope, Pa.) rounded out the top scorers for PSU with 11 points in the losing effort.
Plymouth State ends the year at 5-18 (0-16 LEC), while Rhode Island College improves to 22-3 and 16-1 in the conference.

How it Happened:
- The Anchorwomen opened play on a 7-2 run over the first 1:47.
- Using an 11-2 surge to close out the quarter, RIC held a 23-9 edge after one.
- The visitors stretched the advantage to 35-15 with 4:54 left until halftime.
- Plymouth State used a 7-2 spurt of its own late in the frame to close the gap, but RIC scored the final four points of the quarter to take a 45-22 lead into the break.
- Behind another 13-3 run to open the second half, the Anchorwomen started to pull away.
- PSU managed 12 third-quarter points as the Panthers trailed 64-34 after three.
- Rhode Island College kept its foot on the gas through the fourth quarter to close out the win.
By the Numbers:
- The Panthers went 17-of-58 (29.3%) from the floor and 7-of-24 (29.2%) from three.
- RIC outrebounded the Panthers 45-31 overall and 16-13 on the offensive glass.
- Bench points were in Plymouth State's favor, 30-20.
