NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Junior
Crosby Fay (Waterville Valley, N.H.) scored twice in a six-goal third quarter to help Plymouth State University to a 12-8 win over Norwich University in non-conference men's lacrosse action at Sabine Field on Wednesday night.
Norwich held a narrow 6-5 lead at the half. The teams traded goals over the first five minutes of the third quarter, but senior
Jake Dolcimascolo (Georgetown, Mass.) sparked a 5-0 surge with his third tally of the evening as Plymouth State roared into the lead.
Each team would add a goal in the fourth quarter to account for the final score.
Plymouth State improves to 2-0, while Norwich drops its season opener to go to 0-1.

How it Happened:
- Norwich got on the board first 3:47 into the first quarter, but Fay answered 34 seconds later.
- The Cadets went back in front with 5:13 left in the quarter, but once again Plymouth State came right back to even the score as sophomore Joey Loeber (Chelmsford, Mass.) found the back of the cage.
- The hosts added a man-up goal in the final minute to lead 3-2 after one.
- Norwich extended the margin to 4-2 with another man-up goal early in the second, but the Panthers followed with a 3-0 spurt to leapfrog into the lead. Junior Nolan Burke (Worcester, Mass.) started the streak and Dolcimascolo notched back-to-back goals to put PSU up 5-4.
- The Cadets answered with consecutive goals in the final 5:45 to take a 6-5 lead into halftime.
- Burke's man-up goal pulled the Panthers even 4:03 into the third quarter, but Norwich went back ahead just over a minute later.
- Plymouth State responded with five straight goals to take the lead for good. Dolcimascolo completed the hat trick with 9:38 left in the frame before Fay and senior Mike Fleury (Lebanon, N.H.) tallied man-up goals for a 9-7 advantage.
- Fay and senior Karl Flinter (Pittsburgh, Pa.) scored just 39 seconds apart as the lead surged to 11-7 after three.
- Fay poured in his fourth goal of the game in the first minute of the fourth quarter and Norwich added a goal midway through the frame to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Dolcimascolo finished with a game-high six points on three goals and three assists.
- Fay poured in four goals, with Burke adding a pair of goals and an assist.
- Sophomore Leif Charbonneau (Grafton, Mass.) won 13-of-24 faceoffs and snagged 12 ground balls.
- Loeber added four ground balls and a game-high three caused turnovers.
- Junior Owen McNichols (Manchester, N.H.) made nine saves to earn the win.
- Plymouth State outshot the Cadets by a 42-26 margin, including 25-11 in the second half.
- Norwich grabbed 31 ground balls to the Panthers' 30.
- PSU went 3-for-10 in extra man opportunities, while the Cadets went 2-for-7.
- Plymouth State moves to 17-2 against the Cadets dating back to 1989.
