DANBURY, Conn. – Senior
Jake Dolcimascolo (Georgetown, Mass.) scored four goals, but Western Connecticut State University used a six-goal spurt in the fourth quarter to pull away from Plymouth State University, 15-6, in a Little East Conference (LEC) men's lacrosse game at Westside Athletic Complex on Saturday morning.
Plymouth State trailed by just three, 9-6, entering the fourth quarter, but the Wolves notched six unanswered tallies to seal the victory.
PSU slips to 7-3 (0-2 LEC) on the season, while WestConn moves to 8-2 (2-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- WestConn raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first five minutes before Dolcimascolo cut into the margin midway through the period.
- The Wolves countered two minutes later to take a 4-1 lead into the second quarter.
- Senior Nick Drew (Chelmsford, Mass.) cut the deficit to 4-2 early in the second and the score would hold until late in the frame. Dolcimascolo notched his second of the afternoon to trim the margin to 4-3, but the hosts scored twice in the final 2:13 to take a 6-3 advantage into halftime.
- The teams traded goals throughout the third quarter, with Dolcimascolo pouring in two more before setting up sophomore Ryan Collins (Attleboro, Mass.) to make it a 9-6 game entering the final period.
- The Wolves pulled away in the final stanza with six unanswered goals to take the win.
By the Numbers:
- Dolcimascolo finished with four goals and an assist and has at least a point in every game this season.
- Collins tallied a goal and an assist, while four other Panthers also recorded assists.
- Sophomore Leif Charbonneau (Grafton, Mass.) scooped up a team-high nine ground balls and won 12-of-25 faceoffs.
- Juniors Marc Hirshom (East Walpole, Mass.) and Jack Bonazzoli (Clinton, Mass.) snagged four ground balls apiece.
- Plymouth State has won 14-of-25 matchups since the Wolves adopted men's lacrosse in 2004, though WestConn has won each of the last four meetings.
