PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Junior
Tarryn O'Brien (Weymouth, Mass.) poured in a career-high five goals as Plymouth State University flew past Rhode Island College, 22-5, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's lacrosse game at Alumni Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers raced out to a 4-0 lead in just over two minutes of play. RIC scored back-to-back goals but PSU closed the quarter on a 3-0 run for a 7-2 advantage. Plymouth State scored another seven goals in the second to extend the margin to 14-2 and the Panthers were never challenged in the second half.
Plymouth State improves to 7-5 and stays unbeaten in the LEC (3-0), while the Anchorwomen fall to 1-11 and 0-3 in conference play.

How it Happened:
- Sophomore Maddie Hunt (Acton, Mass.) and senior Emily Santom (Litchfield, N.H.) scored in the opening minute and sophomore Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) and junior Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) followed with early goals as the Panthers jumped out to a 4-0 lead.
- RIC tallied a pair of scores just 21 seconds apart to cut the deficit in half, but PSU closed the frame with three straight for a 7-2 lead. Senior Amelia Thomas (Hopkinton, N.H.) and sophomore Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) buried their first of the game and Gaspa capped the spurt with her second of the day.
- Plymouth State put the game out of reach with another seven goals in the second. Donovan and O'Brien each scored three in the frame, while freshman Camryn Loomis (Seekonk, Mass.) also beat the RIC goaltender to make it 14-2 at the half.
- The Anchorwomen scored the first two goals of the third quarter, but O'Brien, Thomas, and senior Olivia Croke (Norwell, Mass.) answered for PSU as the lead grew to 17-4.
- After a RIC goal to start the final stanza, the Panthers coasted to the win with the final five goals of the afternoon.
By the Numbers:
- PSU outshot the Anchorwomen by a 41-7 margin and went a perfect 9-for-9 on clear attempts.
- The Panthers' defense held RIC to just 6-of-20 on clears.
- Croke led the offense with six points behind a goal and five assists.
- O'Brien (five goals) and Donovan (four goals, one assist) finished with five points apiece, while six other players had multi-point games.
- PSU won 24-of-29 draws, with Stowell (eight), Thomas (six) and Hunt (five) doing the bulk of the work.
- Junior Emily Le Do (Portsmouth, R.I.) led the Panthers with four ground balls, while Loomis had two caused turnovers.
- Plymouth State improves to 21-1 against the Anchorwomen all time, winning each of the last 15 matchups.
