LAKEVILLE, Mass. – Senior
Camilla Puzio (Holden, Mass.) won two points for the Panthers in a 7-2 loss at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth during Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis action at the Lakeville Athletic Club on Saturday afternoon.
Puzio teamed up with senior
Sarah Asciutto (Manchester Center, Vt.) in No. 3 doubles for an 8-4 victory after the Corsairs took No. 1 and No. 2 with a pair of 8-3 wins.
UMD extended the lead with the early singles results, but Puzio snagged the final victory at No. 6 singles with 6-2, 6-2 wins to set the final score.
Plymouth State slips to 2-2 (0-1 LEC), while the Corsairs move to 4-1 (2-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- The duo of Puzio and Asciutto put the Panthers on the board with an 8-4 win in No. 3 doubles.
- Freshman Chloe Ahern (Middleton, Mass.) fought hard in No. 3 singles in a 6-3, 6-3 decision before UMD pushed ahead of the Panthers with three singles wins to make it 4-1.
- Junior Elena Cardoso (Hudson, Mass.) forced a third set in her singles match, rebounding from a first set setback to take the second, 6-1. Asciutto kept it close but her opponent pulled away 7-3 in the third set tiebreaker.
- Puzio capped the Panthers' day off with their second win in No. 6 singles after claiming a pair 6-2 victories to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Puzio holds the team lead with three singles wins thus far.
- Puzio and Asciutto are now 2-1 in doubles play.
- UMass Dartmouth has won the last three matchups for a 14-13 edge in the series dating back to the 1998 season. The Corsairs slipped past the Panthers in the LEC Tournament last fall (5-3).
