WBB: Panthers tripped up at Keene State

KEENE, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's basketball team fell to the Keene State College Owls, 87-49, in a Little East Conference (LEC) game at Spaulding Gymnasium on Wednesday evening.
 
A strong first half by the Owls put the Little East opponent in front by a margin too big to come back from.  Keene State shot 50.0% from the floor in the first half, including nine buckets made from distance. The Owls attempted eight more field goals in the contest.
 
Junior Raegan Peck (Dudley, Mass) and classmate Hailey Malozzi (Maynard, Mass.) each recorded eight points for the Panthers, while sophomore Ashley Stephens (Pembroke, N.H.) tallied seven points of her own. Junior Elli Cox (Deerfield, N.H.) tallied six points and eight rebounds in the losing effort for the Panthers.
 
Plymouth State falls to 2-8 (0-3 LEC) on the season, while Keene State improves to 4-5 (1-0 LEC).

  • The Owls opened with an early 6-4 lead in the first three minutes of play.
  • Keene knocked down the next eight points of the contest to increase the margin to 14-4 with 3:53 remaining in the first quarter.
  • The Panthers hit a pair of three-pointers and tallied the final bucket of the first quarter, as the team trailed 23-12 after one quarter of play.
  • Plymouth struggled in the second quarter as the Owls registered the first 16-points of the frame to extend the margin to 39-12 midway through the second.
