PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Junior
Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) split a pair of defenders and fired a shot to the back of the cage with less than ten seconds remaining to lift Plymouth State University to an 11-10 win over Ohio Wesleyan University at the Spring Fling Women's Lacrosse Tournament at Publix Sports Park on Tuesday afternoon.
The Panthers held an 8-4 lead early in the third quarter, but Ohio Wesleyan ripped off five straight goals to pull in front early in the fourth. Sophomore
Morgan Cunningham (Wrentham, Mass.) and senior
Elle Moshier (Stratford, Conn.) scored back-to-back goals to put the Panthers back in front, 10-9, with 3:23 left to play, but the Battling Bishops tied the game with just 58 seconds to play.
Stowell controlled the ensuing draw and was able to slice between two defenders to bury the winning goal with eight seconds on the clock and senior
Megan Gaspa (Laconia, N.H.) won the following draw to close out the win.
Plymouth State jumps to 3-1, while Ohio Wesleyan falls to 5-1.

How it Happened:
- Plymouth State did all the scoring in the first period, with junior Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) and Stowell giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead.
- Junior Maddie Hunt (Littleton, Mass.) made it 3-0 with just over a minute left in the quarter, and senior Tarryn O'Brien (Weymouth, Mass.) pushed the margin to 4-0 just 20 seconds later.
- The teams traded goals in the first three-plus minutes of the second, with Donovan converting a woman-up goal for a 5-1 lead.
- Ohio Wesleyan scored consecutive goals to pull within two, but O'Brien and Donovan responded to make it a 7-3 lead at the half.
- The Battling Bishops struck in the opening minute of the third, but Hunt had the answer for the Panthers as PSU led 8-4 with 12 minutes left in the third.
- Ohio Wesleyan caught fire from there, scoring the next five goals to pull ahead, 9-8, with less than ten minutes to go.
- Cunningham and Moshier gave the Panthers the lead, but the Battling Bishops tied the game with 58 seconds remaining.
- Stowell won the ensuing draw and was able to squeeze through two defenders to score the game-winner with eight seconds on the clock and Gaspa's draw control sealed the victory.
By the Numbers:
- Donovan finished with three goals and an assist and added one ground ball and a caused turnover.
- O'Brien, Hunt and Stowell all scored twice.
- Stowell added five draw controls and three ground balls to her stat sheet, while Gaspa snagged six draw controls and a pair of ground balls.
- Freshman Grace Campo (Chelmsford, Mass.) had a team-high three caused turnovers.
- Junior Margie Black (Longmeadow, Mass.) made eight saves to pick up the win.
- Ohio Wesleyan held a narrow 18-15 advantage in shots on goal.
- The Panthers were 13-for-21 in clear attempts, while Ohio Wesleyan went 13-for-15.
- PSU converted 4-of-6 free position attempts, while the Battling Bishops went 2-for-6.
- The game was the first meeting between the two teams.
