PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior
Tarryn O'Brien (Weymouth, Mass.) neared a pair of school records after a ten-point game as Plymouth State University overpowered Rhode Island College, 25-1, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's lacrosse game at Panther Field on Saturday.
The Panthers scored five times in the first ten minutes and led 10-1 at the end of the first quarter. O'Brien had a career day, notching ten points on three goals and seven assists, approaching the program records for assists in a game (eight) and points in a game (12).
Juniors
Julia Donovan (Antrim, N.H.) and
Maddie Hunt (Littleton, Mass.) poured in six goals apiece, while freshman
Greta Oberacker (East Falmouth, Mass.) netted her first collegiate goal in the lopsided win.
PSU's defense forced 26 turnovers and limited the Anchorwomen to just 2-for-26 in clear attempts.

Plymouth State evens out at 6-6 (1-2 LEC), while the Anchorwomen dip to 2-9 (0-3 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Junior Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) opened the scoring just over a minute into the contest and Hunt doubled the margin after four minutes of play.
- Donovan made a nice move around a defender to make it 3-0 with nine minutes left in the opening quarter, then converted a free position attempt just 49 seconds later to increase the margin.
- Thomas intercepted a pass and fired a shot to the back of the cage before sophomore Camryn Loomis (Seekonk, Mass.) and Hunt potted back-to-back scores just 19 seconds apart as the lead grew to 7-0.
- RIC answered back with just under three minutes left in the first, but O'Brien got free in front of the cage to respond 15 seconds later for an 8-1 lead.
- Hunt completed her hat trick with 2:20 to go and Thomas made it 10-1 in the final minute.
- Donovan beat the RIC goalie 36 seconds into the second and Gaspa and senior Elle Moshier (Stratford, Conn.) got into the scoring column shortly thereafter as the lead ballooned to 13-1.
- O'Brien tallied her second of the afternoon with 9:04 left before halftime and Donovan and Hunt added to their impressive games over the next two minutes as the advantage grew to 16-1.
- Donovan added two more in the final in the closing minutes of the half as PSU rode an 18-1 lead into the break.
- The Panthers coasted in the second half, with Oberacker notching her first collegiate goal six minutes into the third. Junior Emily Koufos (Loudon, N.H.) also made her presence felt in the second half, recording a pair of goals and an assist as Plymouth State rolled to the victory.
By the Numbers:
- O'Brien's ten points were easily a career high. Her previous best was six points (two goals, four assists) in the season opener at Saint Joseph's.
- Donovan recorded her second six-goal game of the year, while Hunt's six goals were a personal best.
- Ten different Panthers recorded a point in the win.
- Stowell snagged 11 draw controls, while Gaspa was all over the field with two goals, six ground balls, six caused turnovers and four draw controls.
- Thomas also had a big game after scooping up five ground balls to go with five draw controls, three caused turnovers and a pair of goals.
- The Panthers held a 35-2 advantage in shots on goal and were a perfect 5-for-5 in clear attempts, while holding RIC to just 2-for-26.
- Plymouth State won 25-of-27 draw controls and held a 25-15 edge in ground balls.
- PSU improves to 22-1 against the Anchorwomen, winning each of the last 16 contests.
