KEENE, N.H. – Senior
Dylan Flewelling (Oakland, Maine) and junior
Luke Cloutier (Lyman, Maine) spearheaded the Plymouth State University men's cross country team to a second place finish in the season debut 5k race at the Keene State Alumni Meet at the Keene State Athletic Complex on Saturday morning.
The Panthers are coming off impressive back-to-back runs as the Little East Conference (LEC) champions with hopes to make it a three-peat. The team got out to a promising start with many well-improved returners along with some newcomers to get into the mix for the top-scoring seven.
Flewelling and Cloutier dropped impeccable times to garner fifth and sixth place individual finishes. Flewelling cut off almost a full minute from his cross country 5k personal best to finish in 15:50.10, while Cloutier slashed over a minute off his best mark to cross the line in 15:51.30.
Junior
Max Goodman (South Salem, N.Y.), coming off a bounce-back track season, found himself in eighth after clearing the 16-minute mark with a time of 15:59.60.
Plymouth State took second as a team, finishing right behind LEC rivals Keene State but well ahead of the next best team by nearly 20 points.
