DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Freshman
Abby Marston (Greene, Maine) posted the top time for the Plymouth State University women's cross country team at the UMass Dartmouth Invitational at the Robert Dowd Cross Country Course on Saturday.
Marston impressed in the team's first 5k of the year, placing inside the top-50 among Division III competitors and finishing 132nd overall. A third of the teams in the competition were D-I and D-II schools.
The Panthers finished 28th overall and 14th among D-III schools, ranking one spot ahead of Little East Conference (LEC) rival Southern Maine and comfortably in front of Rhode Island College and UMass Boston.

How it Happened:
- Marston was impressive in her first career 5k to lead the Panthers. Her time of 20:14.15 was good enough for 132nd in the highly competitive field of nearly 350 runners.
- Sophomore Molly Glew (Plymouth, N.H.) was also making her debut on a 5k course, crossing the line with an impressive mark of 20:26.44.
- Classmate Rose Karow (South Yarmouth, Mass.) was right behind her in 20:31.80, while freshman Mia Sweeney (Plymouth, Mass.) finished in 21:08.39 to rank among the top-200.
- Freshman Mary McGloine (Schuylerville, N.Y.) rounded out the Panthers' top five with a mark of 21:56.60.
- Sophomore Abby Bergeron (Essex, Vt.) crossed the line in 22:12.82, with juniors Amber Fernald (Alton, N.H.) and Isabel Costa (Harrisville, R.I.) neck-and-neck in 22:21.76 and 22:25.06, respectively.
