BRISTOL, R.I. – Plymouth State University graduate student
Kayla Antonucci (Windham, N.H.) made ten saves, but Roger Williams University had too much offense as the Hawks got past the Panthers, 5-0, in a non-conference field hockey matchup at Bayside Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Hawks struck first in the final stages of the first quarter to take the early 1-0 lead despite the Panthers' defense holding off the attack. Late in the second quarter the hosts added to their lead when they scored twice in a matter of 1:03 to take a commanding 3-0 lead into halftime. Antonucci was splendid in the first half, making two monster saves to keep the Hawks at bay.
The Panthers had a good look when senior
Jenna Stowell (Londonderry, N.H.) fired a shot on net, but the Hawks' goaltender was equal to the task. RWU added two more goals to their total in the third quarter when they cashed in on two straight chances in under a minute to seal the victory, 5-0.
