Ty Miller (Groton, Conn.) pinned the fifth-ranked wrestler in the country to help head coach
Ryan Carr earn his first career dual meet win as the Plymouth State University wrestling team went 1-2 at the Mariner Duals hosted by U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday evening.
Miller was the story of the day, squaring off against Trent Furman of NYU early in the match. Furman was ranked fifth in the country in this week's NWCA National Individual Rankings, but Miller needed just 28 seconds to secure the pin. Anestis also won by fall in less than a minute as the duo provided the entirety of PSU's points in a 47-12 setback to the Bobcats, the 12th-ranked tournament team in the country.
The Panthers pounded Hunter in the middle contest, as Anestis and Miller provided two of PSU's seven pins in a 48-11 victory, the first of Carr's career.
Anestis wrapped up his day with a technical fall victory in a matchup with the host Mariners.
Plymouth State moves to 1-4 on the year. NYU moves to 7-4, USMMA to 5-1 and Hunter dips to 1-8.

How it Happened (NYU):
- Anestis needed less than a minute to pin his opponent at 165 pounds and secure Plymouth State's first six points.
- Miller was even more impressive, topping Furman in less than 30 seconds as the match was squared at 12-12 through four bouts. NYU flexed its depth from there, winning out to account for the final score.
How it Happened (Hunter):
- Plymouth State rolled to victory behind seven wins by fall and a forfeit victory. Anestis earned his second pin in as many bouts in 1:49, while Miller handled business in 1:24.
- Freshman Josiah Funches (Bow, N.H.), junior Michael Moussa (Tucson, Ariz.) and senior Colin Hile (Walpole, Mass.) followed suit with pins at 174, 197 and 285 pounds as PSU extended its lead.
- Junior Nick Savariego (Hillsdale, N.J.) kept the streak going with a pin in just 33 seconds at 125 pounds and sophomore Cam McMahon (East Hampstead, N.H.) won by forfeit at 133 pounds.
- Freshman Cam Monahan (Salem, N.H.) wrapped up the win with the team's seventh pin in 1:22.
How it Happened (USMMA):
- Anestis closed out his day with a decisive, 15-0 technical fall win against the host Mariners.
- Savariego and Hile were the beneficiaries of forfeit victories to account for the remainder of PSU's points.
