WRE: Anestis goes 3-0, Miller's big pin lead Panthers to Carr's first dual win

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – Senior Chase Anestis (Belmont, N.H.) went a perfect 3-0 with a pair of pins and graduate student Ty Miller (Groton, Conn.) pinned the fifth-ranked wrestler in the country to help head coach Ryan Carr earn his first career dual meet win as the Plymouth State University wrestling team went 1-2 at the Mariner Duals hosted by U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday evening.

Miller was the story of the day, squaring off against Trent Furman of NYU early in the match. Furman was ranked fifth in the country in this week's NWCA National Individual Rankings, but Miller needed just 28 seconds to secure the pin. Anestis also won by fall in less than a minute as the duo provided the entirety of PSU's points in a 47-12 setback to the Bobcats, the 12th-ranked tournament team in the country.

The Panthers pounded Hunter in the middle contest, as Anestis and Miller provided two of PSU's seven pins in a 48-11 victory, the first of Carr's career.

Anestis wrapped up his day with a technical fall victory in a matchup with the host Mariners.

Plymouth State moves to 1-4 on the year. NYU moves to 7-4, USMMA to 5-1 and Hunter dips to 1-8.

    • Hunter (1-8)
How it Happened (NYU):
  • Anestis needed less than a minute to pin his opponent at 165 pounds and secure Plymouth State's first six points.

How it Happened (USMMA):

  • Savariego and Hile were the beneficiaries of forfeit victories to account for the remainder of PSU's points.
