PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore
George Bergin (Brentwood, N.H.) scored on a header off a corner kick, but visiting Fisher College toppled Plymouth State University, 5-1, in a non-conference men's soccer match at Arold Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons controlled play throughout the first half, building a 2-0 lead at the break while outshooting PSU by a 10-2 margin. Plymouth State fought back after halftime, forcing six saves from the Falcons' goalkeeper, but a run of unfortunate bounces resulted in three goals in a seven-minute span for the visitors.
Bergin broke through in the 70th minute, heading home a well-placed corner kick from senior
Hunter Holland (Hampton, N.H.) to account for the Panthers' lone tally.
Plymouth State falls to 3-8-1, while Fisher improves to 8-3-1.

How it Happened:

- Fisher doubled its lead in the 32nd minute.
- PSU nearly broke through just before halftime when sophomore Colby Cowan (Oakdale, Conn.) flicked a pass over a defender to junior Vince Cassarino (Tolland, Conn.), who reached the ball just ahead of the goalkeeper but couldn't control it before it rolled over the end line.
- The visitors extended the lead in the 59th minute when a free kick from 35 yards out deflected in the box, ricochetted off the post, and landed at the foot of a striker for an easy tap-in.
- Fisher added another in the 61st minute to make it 4-0.
- Freshman Luke McLaughlin (Topsham, Maine) and Cowan had back-to-back chances, but the Fisher keeper came up with key saves, and the Falcons pushed the margin to 5-0 in the 66th minute.
