FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Plymouth State University outlasted Gordon College in a marathon match, then freshman
Sya McKay (Somersworth, N.H.) delivered a record-breaking performance against Framingham State University as the Panthers swept a non-conference women's volleyball tri-match at Logan Gymnasium on Saturday.
Junior
Annalyn Cahill (Mystic, Conn.) pounded a career-high 17 kills, and graduate student
Ella Koelb (Auburn, N.H.) recorded a monster triple-double (22 kills, 32 assists, 17 digs) to lead the Panthers past Gordon, 3-2 (25-23, 25-21, 23-25, 26-28, 15-13).
McKay set program records for solo blocks and total blocks while hitting .500 with 12 kills as Plymouth State downed Framingham State, 3-1 (25-18, 19-25, 25-12, 25-6), to close out the day.
Plymouth State improves to 17-6. Gordon, which defeated the host Rams in the opening match, moves to 16-8, while Framingham State falls to 14-11.

How it Happened (Gordon):
- Cahill sparked a four-point run in the opening set as PSU erased a 9-6 deficit. The teams traded points, but Cahill notched another two kills and Koelb's ace pushed the lead to 22-16. The Fighting Scots pulled within 24-23, but Cahill secured the 25-23 victory with another winner.
- Sophomore Sydney Riley (Haverhill, Mass.) registered a kill and a block to help build an 8-4 lead in set two. Cahill's kill sparked a four-point spurt for a 14-9 advantage, though Gordon cut the margin to 21-20. Koelb had three kills in a 4-1 spurt, with McKay's ace closing out a 25-21 win.
- PSU led 20-17 in set three before a 6-0 Gordon run flipped the frame. Cahill's kill pulled the Panthers to within one, but the Fighting Scots held on, 25-23.
- The back-and-forth fourth set saw PSU fight off several Gordon runs. Plymouth State secured match point, 24-21, but Gordon rallied to win 28-26 and force a fifth.
- In the decider, Cahill recorded back-to-back blocks, and an ace from graduate student Ava Duymazlar (Center Harbor) gave PSU an early 5-3 lead. Koelb's kill gave PSU an 11-7 cushion. Gordon fought off two match points, but Cahill's final kill clinched the 15-13 victory.

- Plymouth State tallied a season-high 74 kills.
- Koelb led all players with 22 kills (.333), and added 32 assists and 17 digs.
- Cahill set a career-high with 17 kills and added seven blocks.
- Riley finished with 13 kills and six blocks, while McKay chipped in 12 kills and three aces.
- Sophomore Danielle Emerson (Biddeford, Maine) dished out 27 assists and served four aces.
- Duymazlar notched 25 digs, senior Veronika Castro Rodriguez (Toa Baja, Puerto Rico) added 24, and junior Christa Imbriano (Wakefield, Mass.) had 17 as PSU totaled 97 digs.
- The Panthers served 11 aces and improved to 9-1 all-time against Gordon.
How it Happened (Framingham State):
- McKay and Koelb combined for four straight kills to erase a 13-11 deficit in set one. Framingham State stayed close, but Cahill posted three late kills to secure the 25-18 win.
- Emerson's two aces helped PSU jump out to a 4-0 lead in set two, but Framingham State surged ahead. With the score deadlocked at 15-15, the Rams rallied to even the match, 25-19.
- Koelb's kill keyed a 5-1 run as PSU surged ahead 20-11 in set three. Freshman Neve Tyler (Hebron, Conn.) served out the final five points for a 25-12 victory.
- The Panthers dominated set four as Emerson served the Panthers to an 11-0 lead. McKay tallied three kills and three blocks during the run, then capped the 25-6 victory – and her record-setting night – with a solo block.

- McKay hit .500 with 12 kills and set program records with nine solo blocks and 11 total blocks.
- Koelb added 12 kills, 22 assists, eight digs and two aces.
- Riley (eight kills) and Cahill (seven kills, three blocks) supported the offense.
