Aidan Fritz (Colchester, Conn.) was named the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Football Defensive Player of the Week, while graduate student
Gregory Walker (Boxford, Mass.) earned a spot on the Weekly Honor Roll, the league announced on Monday.
Fritz recorded game highs of 14 tackles and 10 solo stops to help Plymouth State University stay in the MASCAC title hunt with a 28-26 win over Framingham State University on Saturday. He also broke up two passes, including one near the PSU end zone on the final play of the first half to preserve the Panthers' 13-0 lead.
Walker powered the offense with 132 rushing yards and a touchdown, averaging 5.7 yards per carry. He opened the scoring with a 3-yard touchdown run early in the first quarter.
Plymouth State improved to 7-1 (6-1 MASCAC) with the win. The Panthers are tied atop the league standings with Anna Maria College, though the AMCATS own the tiebreaker. PSU hosts Fitchburg State University for a
Senior Day contest on Saturday (Nov. 8) at noon.
